Freshmen Hoopsters Shine On Varsity Stage

The Cranford girls varsity basketball team got some help from its' newest members in a 51-7 victory over neighboring Brearley High School.
Freshman guard Jennifer Carovillano had a hot touch, shooting a perfect 3 for 3 from the field and adding a foul shot to bring her point total to 7 for the night.  Fellow frosh Erin Meixner added two points and an assist to go along with her outstanding effort on the boards, hauling in five rebounds for the Cougars.
Not to be outdone, the sophomore class showcased their experience and aggressiveness with a strong defensive effort.  Guard Hannah Demars snatched three steals and four rebounds to go with two assists and two points.  Foward Meg Pringle, who played some quality minutes against Linden, had four rebounds and a blocked shot to go with her two points.  Kerri Wischeusen, who has been a valuable addition on the court all year for the Cougars, controlled the ball against Brearley, and added 4 points 2 rebounds and 2 assists.
Senior Morgan Miller led all scorers, tossing in 12 points to go with 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for Cranford.

The Cougars are back on the court on Thursday for their biggest game so far this season when undefeated Governor Livingston comes to town for a 4:00pm game.  Cranford and GL split their meetings last year, and both teams return their full squads this year for what should be an exciting game.
